Following the highly successful launch of Middlesbrough Erimus ‘Wrap Up’ project where well over 1,000 items of warm winter clothing were donated by the public of Teesside, on Tuesday December 7th members heard from one of its main beneficiaries.
Nadia Gibany, a director with Nitelight CIC, a Community Interest Company described how they have been able to distribute donated items of winter wear to deserving individuals at their weekly market in central Middlesbrough. These donations enable Nitelight volunteers to establish a dialogue with the recipients and subsequently provide other basic needs including hygiene packs and meal cards through a link up with local cafes and bistros.
Established as recently as March 2020, Nitelight has quickly found a real niche in the provision of support to those many significantly disadvantaged during the pandemic. Planned expansion to Hartlepool and Stockton is expected early in the New Year. In wishing Nitelite well Community Service lead Dave Whittaker offered ongoing support and liaison from Erimus membership.
