On Tuesday 13 June, 479 children, many from the underprivileged areas of Middlesbrough, were taken to Beamish Outdoor Museum. For many, this was the first time they had travelled outside their area. The children had a wonderful day out and were blessed with beautiful sunny weather.

Children from seven schools in Middlesbrough took part in the outing. One of the schools also decided to invite parents to come along, making it a family day out for those parents and children. Baseball caps were given out to the students to protect them from the sun.

The event was funded by a partnership between Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary Club, Rotakids Days Out and the Teesside Family Foundation.
